Give it dimensions or a percentage and it produces exactly that. The aspect ratio is locked by default, so one number decides the other — unlocking it is for fitting a fixed frame, and otherwise it is how people end up stretched sideways. The two directions are not opposites either: one discards information that exists, the other guesses pixels that never did.
